Adventurers, with sheer joy and wonder, make vital discoveries and sometimes even rediscoveries of great importance. At this crucial time in our history, we need your venturesome spirit the most. If we are to evolve and prosper, we need to discover new, and rediscover old, ways of being on the planet if we are going to evolve and prosper. This is the inspiration behind Vibrant Traditions – to participate in inner exploration, to discover new insights, and rediscover ancient wisdom that help us to heal, rise to our full potential and thrive from a place of interconnectedness with all of life.

We are at a pivotal moment in history called The Great Turning, which has been prophesized by many indigenous cultures including the Maya and Hopi. Culturally the western mind has emphasized only one path to perception: the intellect. With all our intelligence, we are wiping out species, decimating forests, altering climate patterns, threatening our water, air and food supplies, brutally warring with one another, and generally ruining our planet for future generations… all the while thinking that we are the cleverest of beings!

If we are to survive and have a world in which our grandchildren can thrive, we must be truly adventuresome and employ not only our intellect, but also our hearts, our creativity, our intuition, and our deeper knowing. We must pay attention to the wisdom that comes in silent, humble, and subtle ways. For example many ancient cultures use shamanic practices, like going down a hole in a tree to seek guidance from other realms and from plant and animal consciousness. This may seem very strange to a western mind, yet more and more people are seeking meaning in their lives that is not satisfied by the western mindset. As people are opening to the notion that all of life has consciousness and we are part of something much larger and vaster than ourselves, then listening to these subtle and humble voices suddenly adds much more powerful meaning and fulfillment to our lives.

When we stop to truly consider the current state of our world, we cannot help but wonder at the immense vulnerability we share with all of existence. It is at this point where we are most capable of seeing just how vital and precious all within the web of life are, how each and every being brings unique purpose and meaning. Recognizing this, we see magnificence all around us. And it is here where we find our most inspired answers to the crisis at hand. Life’s purpose is its beauty, vibrancy and sprouting transformation. When we sit in this knowing, we realize our gift for growing greater consciousness and spiritual connection to the whole.

A new world is rapidly approaching, that is certain. Will it largely be a time of turbulence, destruction and fear or a time of breakthrough realizations of vaster consciousness? It is up to us and how we show up to meet the challenges of our time.
